About the composer

Byron Hawkins is a composition student of UCLA professor Ian Krouse. He graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Musical Arts from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, where he studied piano with Richard Farner and composition with Greg Youtz. In each musical creation, Byron hopes to expand his understanding of the truth and grace of God, and to develop unique ways to express the dramatic power of divinity in the language of melody and harmony. These works stand as a musical testimony to his faith in Jesus Christ,

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
    ~ 2 Corinthians 4:6

Byron has been a professional software developer since 1996, and will be pursuing his Ph.D. in computer science at the University of California, Irvine in the fall of 2012.
